As Silver Sands Holiday Park is within a regonised Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), we are fully dedicated to being a responsible operator in the local community. Nature is at the heart of why our guests and owners chose us over other operators within west Cornwall and its important we play an active part in enhancing the biodiveristy of our land.
Our pledges to maintaining a sustainable environment are:
- Providing an onsite EV Charger for our guests and holiday home owners to use. Given our rural location, there isnt another public EV charger within a 20 minute drive from the park.
- We continue active encouragement of recyling to all park users. Our choosen waste partners are committed to a zero waste to landill & recycle the maximum possible amount of waste.
- Preserving & Enhancement of the on-site biodiversity is key. Additional planting has already taken place to promote the wellbeing of bees and butterflies. We will also continue on our programme of tree planting over the coming years to replace current trees impacted by ash dieback, or trees which have reached end of life.
- Going green with our tools - as and when our equipment is in need of replacement, we are moving away from petrol and deisel powered tools in favour of electric. We have begun this with our strimmers, pole saws and chainsaws.
- We work closely with local communities, businesses, and authorities to promote sustainable tourism practices to promote best practices.
- Active promotion of "things to do" that don't involve the car. We are lucky to be right on the South West Coast Path and can access large swathes of the Lizard Penninusla by foot. If guests or holiday home owners would like to travel further afeild, we have a fantastic local bus service from the village of Kugger, a short 10 minute walk from the park.
